Our  Vacation at a Farm
On Sunday afternoon two weeks ago, my daddy and mom sat in the verandah. Daddy proposed her to spend the coming vacation in a farm. He thought it wouldbe a great change and give a new experience to us, his children. Dad said, “How about visiting Uncle Bram’s farm next holiday? I believeour kids would enjoy fthe farm life.”
My mom raised her  forehead. It seemed she disagreed with my father’s proposal. She said, “No David, what can you see in the farm?”
She continued  and then complained, “There things that they can enjoy are just the green trees. So, why should we go there? Our  kids can enjoy them here in our garden everyday.”
Dad stood up and said nothing. He looked out and nodded. He closed his eyes.
Mom stood up too and continued, “Anywhere you go, you just  see the trees and trees. I’m quite sure our children get bored easily. So they’II feel  very dissappointed.”
Dad approached my mom, took her hand and asked her  to sit down  together. He talked calmly to her. “ Staying at a farm – even if you just stay a weekend – is an experience our kids will never forget. If you go there with the kids, it is a chance for them to experience firsthand where food comes from and even help with farm chores, such as feeding baby lambs and collecting eggs. It is a way to put kids back to America’s farm roots and a calmer, simpler way of life.”
“No, I don’t think our kids need such as a farm life experience. We need a change out  of our daily routines  but not the ones like you said such as feeding baby lambs and collecting eggs.”
“Okay, I understand,” daddy tried to be calm. He suggested, “But let’s call Tony, 13 years, and Diana, 16 years. I’ll Tell them about the farm life. Then, let them decide whether they want to spend their coming vacation in Uncle Bram’s farm or not.” Mom nodded to agree.
Then, my dad told my younger brother, Tony, and me about the coming vacation and the farm life about before Daddy finished his talk to us Tony and I screamed, “Yes!”
Tony asked daddy to let him take the brochure that my teacher, Mrs. Julia Paul discussed at school. He came back with the brochure and gave to my daddy. Mom and daddy read it together.
